About Branstadir.
How it started…
Our journey with Icelandic horses began when photographer and friend Henri Van Lent suggested them for their gentle nature, perfect for our family with children. Captivated by their unique gaits at a German horse show, we brought home our first horse, Brunka. A trip to Iceland followed, expanding our herd and turning a hobby into a life-long passion and full-time commitment.

Mission statement.
Our mission is to help all horses reach their full potential through expert breeding, training, and care. We provide each horse with individual attention and offer a diverse selection, ensuring the perfect match between riders and horses. Furthermore, we support your journey with training for riders of all levels and assist with feed, gear, and stabling.
Why us?
With 35 years of experience, 62 horses sold, and 122 trained, we have a deep understanding of the Icelandic horse breed. As your all-in-one Belgian partner, we are dedicated to providing high-quality horses, training, stabling, and supplies.
For your mares, we proudly offer two exceptional stallions through artificial insemination:
- Moli frá Skriðu, known for his outstanding character and impressive movement, producing offspring with excellent gaits and temperament.
- Vidalin frá Branstödum, known for his strong performances in the competition arena.
In addition to our own bred horses, we also offer horses from other owners, each thoroughly analyzed and trained to meet our high standards.

Meet the Branstadir team.

My tasks include feeding, assisting with training, and maintaining the stables and paddocks. I share strong bonds with each horse and find joy in saddle training, focusing on building trust and connection. While I appreciate all breeds, the Icelandic horse stands out to me for its strength, intelligence, and personality!

I work as a teacher and assist part-time at Branstadir, where I fell in love with Icelandic horses for their beauty and temperament. Together with Stijn, I’ve trained many young horses and have always been the first to ride them. In addition to training, I also prepare for competitions and support our family.

Stijn
I am fully committed to breeding, training, and care. In close collaboration with Evy, I manage the lunging and groundwork of young horses in their early steps. During the next training phase, I take a leading role to ensure they develop their skills effectively—one of my key strengths!

Emma
Alongside my studies, I maintain our stables and train my sport horse, Kléopatra frá Branstodum. This 9-year-old mare, bred by us, embodies the ideal Icelandic horse with her well-separated gaits, calm demeanor, positive mindset, and delightful tölt. She inspires me in every step of my journey!
